History

Chicken Strip was built in the 1960s to provide access to the nearby Saline Valley hot springs. On August 7, 2011 the National Park Service (NPS) closed Chicken Strip due to safety concerns. The Recreational Aviation Foundation worked with the NPS and volunteers to repair the strip to the NPS's satisfaction. Chicken Strip reopened on October 15, 2011
