Buldak Bokkeum Myeon (Korean: ?????) is a brand of ramyeon produced by Samyang Food in South Korea since April 2012. In the case of cup ramyeon, the large size was first produced in June 2012 and the small size in November 2013. In March 2014, the company reached more than 100 million cumulative sales. In 2015, the brand attained monthly sales of 6 to 7 billion won. Buldak Bokkeum Myeon is known for being one of the spiciest ramyeon available in the Korean market. Its SHU is measured to be 4,404 in the original package. Its literal translation means: stir-fried chicken noodles. It does not have a soup satchet, unlike most ramyeons. It only has a sauce satchet, like a stir-fry. Its flakes are made up of dried laver and sesame seeds.
Buldak Bokkeum Myeon became famous due to the Fire Noodle Challenge, a viral challenge where people film themselves attempting to complete a bowl of Buldak Bokkeum Myeon. In November 2016, Samyang Food obtained a halal certificate for Buldak Bokkeum Myeon from the Korea Muslim Federation Halal Committee.

Birth
In 2011, when ramen based on soup was popular, Samyang Food President Jung Soo Kim passed by Myeongdong Road and found that people were crowded in spicy chicken restaurant by chance. He got an idea here and thought that spicy can be tasty, and he started to develop Buldak Bokkeum Myeon with the motto of "Spicy, Chicken, Fried Noodles". The marketing department and the research institute staff tasted delicious spicy foods such as roast chicken, lobster beef, chicken wings, etc. Also, they tasted and research various kinds of spicy peppers in lots of country and tried hard to develop 'delicious and spicy sauce'. In addition, tasting 2 tons of hot sauce and 1200 chicken dishes, and after 12 months of research, they found the best mixing ratio and developed the fried chicken fried noodles.

Haek Buldak Bokkeum Myeon (Nuclear Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen in the US) is a limited version of Buldak Bokkeum Myeon celebrating the beginning of 2017. It is measured to be 8,706 SHU, almost 2 times as spicy as the original. Production ended in the last week of April. The haek in the name, roughly translates to "nuclear". It is also presumed to be the spiciest instant noodle in the whole world.

The Curry Buldak Bokkeum Myeon combines the flavor of Korean style curry with Buldak Bokkeum Myeon.
Mala Buldak Bokkeum Myeon (?? ?????)
The sauce of the 'Mala' (??) or 'Numbing and spicy' Buldak Bokkeum Myeon features the flavours of the original fire chicken flavour with the flavours of Sichuan Peppercorns. The peppercorns gives off a spicy and numbing mouthfeel. Unlike the other types of Buldak Bokkeum Myeon, the flakes in this type are rehydrated vegetables and mushrooms that re-hydrate when boiled with the noodles.

In 2017, Samyang Foods released another variation of the original noodles which included 3 sauce packets consisting of a type of sweet soy sauce, Mayonnaise, and Wasabi paste. The noodles also have dehydrated pieces of cabbage that re-hydrate after cooking.
Surge in popularity
The popularity of the noodles worldwide surged when'The Fire Noodle Challenge' or '????? ??', went viral on YouTube. The challenge was first started by the YouTube Channel '???? Korean Englishman' in which Josh, the main host of the channel, challenged his friends in the UK to see who could finish the noodles the fastest without drinking any water or beverage to cool the heat down. The popularity of the video led to other YouTubers all around the world to do the same challenge and therefore cause a surge in the noodle's popularity.
Mascot
The mascot of the Buldak Bokkeum Myeon series is a chicken named 'Hochi' or '??' in Korean.
